Sales Tracker Information
During parcel setup the SalesTracker object is placed on each parcel in addition to any scene items. When a parcel is sold this object notifies the Landmanager application of the sale, and the buyer. The sales price is looked up in the database for whichever specific landgroup that parcel was in and within a few minutes the parcel will show up in the Sales History.
Parcel Buyrate:
The Buyrate is used to calculate profit and is calculated during discovery, under most circumstances the Second Life simulator will report the last price paid was. In some instances it will be necessary to override this value.
Override the Buyrate:
To override this value in the very beginning of the Description line on the parcel (before discovery is ran) you can place either an integer (e.g.: 12000) or a decimal float (e.g.: 8.7) and the Landmachine worker robot will use this in place of what the simulator reports. There are two circumstances where it will be required to override this: 1) for new Auction sims, they always report 1L as the purchase price, and 2) for Parcels which are cut smaller.
Any changes made to a parcel after setup (price, etc) Will not be reflected in the SalesTracker since the system makes the assumption it is making all the changes.
Sale Price:
The Sale price of the parcel is determined by calculating parcel area * Price/sq.m set in the Land group in which the parcel belongs to.
Profit:
The profit is calculated based on the buy rate - the sale price automatically by the system.
Parcel Identification
You will notice on every parcel that has gone through the setup process, at the beginning of the Description on the parcel will be a number enclosed in brackets []. This is the Parcel ID the system uses for tracking purposes. Every parcel will have its own unique parcel ID. You can use this number to correlate entries in the Sales Tracker or the Parcel Manager within the Landmanager application. This parcel ID is very important for the SalesTracker to work properly as there is no other way to determine which parcel was sold except by using this information.
On rare occasions a sale will not be reported, there are a few possible reasons for this:
- Parcel Description had its Parcel ID altered or removed
- SalesTracker Object was returned before sale was recorded
- Parcel was cut and repriced without going through a new discovery/setup process.
You can prevent this by making sure you let the system do all the pricing/setups and not making manual changes.
If the Sales Tracker Object did not record the sale, the parcel in question will remain in its landgroup. The next time the Landmachine worker robot visits the parcel (ie: during a reprice) The robot will detect the ownership change and mark the parcel as sold and use the information gained on the actual parcel to determine the new owner and time/date of sale. The sale price will be calculated based on the parcels size * the current price set for parcels in that landgroup.
Tip: Before you cut an existing parcel, set the buy rate in the description as per usual with new simulators to save yourself time!
